Umbra House

Architecture begins where the landscape is allowed to enter.

Threshold House is conceived as a sequence of transitions rather than a single dwelling. Embedded within the mountainside, the architecture reveals itself gradually, guiding its inhabitants through a series of thresholds where light, shadow and nature continuously reshape the experience of space.

The house does not seek to dominate its surroundings. It withdraws into the terrain, allowing the landscape to become the true protagonist. Openings are carefully framed, transforming distant mountains, moving clouds and changing seasons into living interiors.

Every space exists between two conditions. Shelter and exposure. Stone and sky. Silence and wind. The architecture dissolves the boundary between inside and outside, creating a home where nature is never observed from a distance, but experienced as part of everyday life.

Materials are reduced to their essence. Dark timber, exposed concrete, water and natural light create an atmosphere of quiet permanence, where time is measured by shifting reflections and the slow movement of the landscape.

Threshold House is not defined by walls.

It is defined by the moments that exist between them.
