Umbra House

Architecture begins where the landscape enters.

Threshold House is conceived as a succession of spaces, carved into the slope and shaped by light, shadow and the surrounding terrain.

The house recedes into the mountain, framing the landscape through carefully placed openings. Inside and outside become less defined, shifting between shelter, exposure, stone and sky.

Dark timber, concrete and water establish a restrained material palette, allowing light and the changing landscape to give the house its character.

Rather than a defined object, Threshold House is an architecture of transitions.
